Edoventure date change

Aloha!

I can’t wait to return to Thailand for our week of spa treatments and learning Thai massage.  The food in Chiang Mai is so delicious, and I want to see the elephants again!

The date for the Edoventure to Thailand has been changed a little.  It now looks like February 2010 will be the best date.  Yuka at Dragon Village Cafe in Osaka is in charge.

“エド”ベンチャーの日程の変更

アロハ！スパ・トリートメントやタイマッサージを勉強しにタイへ戻ることを待ちわびています。チャンマイでの食事はとてもおいしいですし、象もまた見たいと思っています！

タイへの”エド”ベンチャーの日程が少し変更されました。2010年の2月ごろが最適のようです。大阪のドラゴン・ヴィレッジ・カフェのゆかさんが担当しております 。

Under Mom’s protective wing

People who visit Kauai are often amazed to see the wild, free-roaming chickens everywhere.   Well, the first Polynesians to visit Hawaii brought those chickens with them, and they have been running around ever since.  One day it occurred to me that Romilomi is similar to the movements of the chickens.

In this picture you see a chicken resting, but you do not see her baby chicks hidden under her wing.  Every once in awhile, the chicks come out to play before scampering back to the safety of mama’s wing.  The cycle repeats itself several times a day, many days in a row.  The mother hen coaxes her chicks out to play until eventually they grow and expand and transform into adult chickens.

Romilomi is like the mother hen with her outstretched wings.  With stroke after stroke we coax the pain out of the body.  In a safe, protected environment we nurse new ideas and new beings from egg to full grown chicken.  The client is like the emboldened chick.  His confidence expands in total safety until he realizes how BIG and WONDERFUL he is all by himself.

Romilomi is so much more than a movement or technique.  With our flying step and breath we build a cloak of energy around the client that is safe and nurturing.  With great reverence we connect with the Soul and energize the creative seed that blossoms into the new, fuller transformed Being.

母親の守られた羽の下で

島のいたるところで野生で自由に歩き回る鶏を見て、カウアイ島を訪れた人はたいていおどろきます。ハワイに初めて訪れたポリネシア人が鶏を連れてきて、それ以来、鶏たちは走り回っているのです。ある日、私は鶏の動きが、ロミロミに似ていると発見しました。

上の写真では、鶏が休んでいるのは見えますが、彼女の羽の下に隠れている雛鳥は見えません。雛鳥たちは時折、そこから出てきては遊び、そしてまた母鳥の守られた羽の下へと急いで戻ります。このサイクルは一日に数回繰り返され、何日も続きます。母鳥は雛鳥たちが成長し、大きくなり、大人の鶏になるまで、外に出して遊ばせるようにします。

ロミロミは伸ばした羽を持った母鳥のようなものです。幾度かのストロークで身体から痛みを出させます。安全で守られた環境のなかで、卵が完全に鳥へと成長するかのように新しいアイデアや新しい存在をはぐくむのです。クライエントは励まされている雛鳥のようなものです。完全に安全な場所で、彼ががいかに大きく、素晴らしい存在であるかを彼自身が理解するまで彼の自信が広がります。

ロミロミは動きやテクニック以上のものがあります。フライングのステップと呼吸でクライエントの周りのエネルギーにカバーをつけることは、とても安全で滋養を与えます。偉大な尊敬の念をもって魂とつながり、クリエイティブな種子が新しいもの、より満ちて変容された存在へと開花します。

Grand Opening of Studio 56!

This year’s July Romilomi Camp classes were held in the new Studio 56.  This teaching space is much larger with room for 10 tables.  The floor is padded and carpeted and feels wonderful on bare feet. Mirrored doors cover two of the walls giving us instant feedback for flying.  What is also cool is the mirrors bring the outside greenery right into the room.  It’s like we are practicing in the jungle.  There’s a bathroom and plenty of storage, too.

Many of you know Kumu Hula Nathan Kalama, founder of the Mokihana Festival, who performed the Hawaiian blessing.  With ti leaf and salt water in hand, Nathan let loose with his thunderous oli until the walls of  Studio 56 reverberated with his chanting.   It gave us all chicken skin.  Around 30 guests joined in the celebration followed by a delicious paina or meal.

Now let’s spread the word of our home base at Studio 56 so our Team Romilomi continues to grow!  Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Studio 56グランド・オープン！

今年の7月のロミロミキャンプのクラスは新しくなったStudio 56で開かれました。この教室はとても広く、10個のテーブルが置けるスペースがあります。床はクッション性がありカーペットが敷きつめられているので、裸足で歩くととても気持ちがいいです。鏡貼りのドアは二つの壁を覆い、フライングの即座なフィードバックを得ることができます。その鏡がもう一つ素晴らしいのは、外の草木を部屋のなかに運んでくれるということです。それはまるで私達がジャングルのなかでマッサージをしているような感じです。バスルームもあり、収納スペースもたくさんあります。

モキナナ・フェスティバルの創始者でハワイアン・ブレッシング(祈り)を行う、クム・フラ・ネーサン・カラマのことをみなさんの多くは知っていると思います。ティーリーフと塩水を手に、ネーサンは彼の歌声が響き渡るStudio56の壁を大量のオイルと共にゆるませました。私達はみな鳥肌がたちました。30人ほどのゲストたちは美味しいパイナ(ディナー、食事)へと続くパーティーに参加しました。

ロミロミチームが発展し続けるように、私達のホームであるStudio 56を広めていきましょう！ヨロシクオネガイシマス！

Congratulations Team Lomilomi!

For 20 years I have volunteered at the Kauai Hospice Fourth of July Concert in the Sky doing Shiatsu and Lomilomi to earn donations for hospice.  It’s a fun filled festival celebrating the USA’s birthday with music, dance, comedy and of course FIREWORKS set to music.  For the past few years I have enrolled the help of the lomilomi camp students.

This year Team Lomilomi did an exceptional job and pulled in almost $900 in donations for hospice care on Kauai.  The organizers of the event sent a wonderful thank you to all of you who participated.  They also begged us to please, please come back next year! What do you say Team Lomilomi?

ロミロミチームおめでとう！

私は過去20年間、カウアイ・ホスピス主催の7月4日独立記念青空コンサートで、ホスピスのための寄付を集めるために、指圧とロミロミをボランティアで提供しています。音楽やダンス、コメディー、そしてもちろん花火などでアメリカの誕生日を祝う楽しいフェスティバルです。過去何年かはロミロミキャンプの生徒たちの助けを得て、参加しえいます。

今年のロミロミチームはすばらしい仕事をし、カウアイ島のホスピス介護への寄付のために約900ドルも稼ぎました。イベントの主催者は参加した人たちすべてに感謝を送りました。彼らは私達に是非是非、来年も戻ってきてくださいと頼んでいます！どうしましょうか？
